CROWNSVILLE- Madonna Brennan, candidate and Democratic nominee for the House of Delegates in District 33A, last night warned voters at a forum at the First Christian Community Church in Crownsville that her opponent, Delegate Tony McConkey, is a criminal and continually victimizes the voters of their district.
"It was reported that Tony McConkey's real estate license has now been suspended as he admitted to 'willfully violating' a law that he voted for in both 2005 and 2008," said Brennan, "This is the second time he has broken this law, and this is not who I want to represent me in the House of Delegates and neither should you."
In a plea deal struck 36 hours ago, McConkey admitted to "willfully violating" the MD Protection of Homeowners in Foreclosure Act. In August of last year, the Capital reported that a jury found that he had "knowingly violated" that very same act.
Brennan continued: "This is not a partisan issue. I don't believe Del. McConkey cares if you are a Republican, Democrat or Independent - he is a bipartisan fraudster. Del. McConkey said that voters have been understanding - but voters don't need to be understanding. You don't get to be a Delegate by day and a criminal by night. While I have spent the last 5 years working in my community to help maintain and improve the resident's quality of life, he has been victimizing the community and ruining people's lives."
Madonna Brennan is running for the House of Delegates in District 33A in order to bring to the office her background, expertise, and opinions that have been shaped by her involvement at all levels of her District. She believes an elected official should be willing to be a voice of their constituents and that every bill and every vote should reflect the needs of their community.
Brennan has been endorsed by the Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO, the Sierra Club, and the League of Conservation Voters. For more information, visit www.madonnabrennan.com or call Madonna directly at 301-325-0113.
The Capital endorses Madonna Brennan: "Our second endorsement goes to Brennan, a Crofton-area resident who will bring more geographic balance to the
delegation."

The voters of District 33A have an opportunity before them that I wish I could share; the chance to vote for my friend Madonna Brennan. Madonna and I first met when I moved to Maryland in 1990, since that time, I’ve had the distinct honor of calling her my friend. I can confidently state, that Madonna will serve the people of her district with a proven recipe for success - listen to the people involved, educate herself on the facts, then take timely, appropriate action.
I now live in Kentucky so I won’t have the chance to cast a ballot in support of my friend. However, that won’t prevent me from supporting her run for office. You may find me at a meet and greet or mailing/handing you a flyer soon. I’ll have to settle for supporting her from the background, the voters of District 33A won’t have to settle.
On Election Day they can:
Vote for Madonna Brennan
"Madonna Brennan is a straight shooter. What she says is what you get. She has the rare talent of being able to take complex problems, explain them simply and focus
them all the way down to the real issues that affect people.
It is exciting and reassuring to me, looking to the future, that Madonna -- a person of great ability and smarts -- has stood up and is running for public office. She wants to work in a place where
she has been working for years, just not officially. The only difference to us will be that she will be more effective at this higher level."
From Dick Lahn 2008 Crofton Citizen of the Year
"Any community would be happy and proud to have a member with such energy and leadership skills as Madonna Brennan. She has proved her worth over and over again in her
West County Community by her actions. The group Madonna chairs now, "Crofton first" says a great deal about our candidate. When she takes on a project - she puts the people - first. She is always
thinking of what this will mean for the advancement of the community....not what this will mean for the advancement of the public career of Madonna Brennan. She is not a career politician - but will
be a "mission" politician - a mission to serve all the people in Legislative District 33A. We need such leadership. Vote for Madonna Brennan!"
Ann Marie Remillard, member, Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee
"As a proven community activist, Madonna Brennan is uniquely qualified to serve the people of District 33A. Madonna isn't a career politician, or a well-heeled special interest. She is from the grassroots, and she will be true to the grassroots in Annapolis." Stepehen Thibodeau, Chairman, Anne Arundel County Democratic Party; Member of the Democratic Central Committee, District 33
